Syd’s comment on yesterday’s post has prompted this one. His comment was that maybe J could take a computer class while incarcerated in order to stay with the technology. Very funny!!! He’s still on the waiting list for the electronics class, which will start in May. He’s still on the waiting list for drug classes. He’s still on the waiting list to get into an NA meeting for God’s sake!! Here in Illinois, they are constantly cutting the programs in the prisons, because the state is so broke, thanks to our corrupt politicians.

At this point, in order to stave off boredom, J works out each day, goes to gym each day, and has put in a request to work in the kitchen. If he gets a job in the kitchen, he gets NOTHING for it – no extra state pay, no time off his sentence. Nothing. He’s doing it because he really needs something to do!! Fingers crossed he gets the job!

  1. I’m glad that you explained the situation. I have to say that I don’t know much about prisons or what programs are cut in them. But since just about every state is broke, then it makes sense that the prison system is not among the top funding priorities. I hope that he does get that kitchen job.

  2. Its a joke that they call the prisons here in CA “Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation”. Its jail/prison time with a few meetings if you’re lucky.

I do hope J will get the job in the kitchen.

Happy New Year, lets hope for a good one for all of us.
