We’re Home!

We rolled in about dinnertime last night from our 2-1/2 week trip in the RV out west. Colorado was amazing!! Grand Teton was amazing!! Yellowstone was amazing!! Still…there’s no place like home.

I haven’t talked to J in weeks. Apparently he sent a letter while we were gone, which my other son opened. He got into some sort of trouble (big surprise!) and hadn’t been able to call. I don’t think it was anything REALLY bad that he did, but nonetheless. Why can’t he just STAY OUT OF TROUBLE! Too much to ask apparently.

Oh! Oh!! My sister just called me. I’m at a great-aunt!! My niece just had her first child about 20 minutes ago!!  Little Kaden was born at 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 20 inches long!!  Happy day!!!!

Isn’t it funny how we can enjoy such happy times in the midst of such sadness? But oh, we are so blessed!!

  1. Yes, you are blessed. And most of us are if we choose to see through different eyes. Glad that your trip went well.

  2. WOW! Great news about your incredible trip full of gorgeous sites AND your new neice/nephew (is Kaden a boy or a girl?). I love being a great-aunt! Its too soon to be a grandma so its perfect 🙂

Glad you are home and feeling happy!

  3. You are right – happy news and you are indeed blessed! Glad you are home safe and sound! Prayers continue…

  4. Sounds like a wonderful and beautiful trip you had! Vacations are good for the soul, in my opinion! ;). Congratulations on your great nephew (I’m guessing boy!). Babies are always a blessing! Prayers for you and yours!!

  5. So happy you had a great trip and got to come home to such exciting and wonderful news. Congatulations on being a great-aunt and also for living your life with some joy in spite of some sorrow.

  6. where did you go in colorado ? any recommendations ? we’re about to go there, flying, not driving though, since we live in VA.

    • We spent a couple days in Colorado Springs – went to Garden of the Gods. That was very pretty – although somewhat crowded and HOT! Skip Seven Falls – total rip off! You pay too much money to ride an elevator to the top of the falls, which just aren’t that impressive. Then they try to get you to pay more money in their gift shops. We fell for it, but my recommendation is to pass on this one. Instead go next door to Cheyenne Mountain State Park, which is free and has better scenery and less crowds. From there we headed north to Rocky Mountain National Park. Definately do the Fall River Road if it doesn’t scare you too much. Its one-way dirt road up the mountains. Very cool and not really that frightening. At the top you will be up past tree line at over 12,000 feet. Beautiful!! Other than that we just did a few mountain hikes into Sprague Lake and Bear Lake in RMNP. Hang out in Estes Park for an evening – cute little town with lots of shops and restaurants.

Have a great trip! This was our first time to Colorado, and we really enjoyed it!!

  7. […] hard to believe it’s been a year already since this post: where I announce the birth of my grand-nephew Kaden. But it has already!! So yesterday we had a […]
